Students and teachers get acquainted with the nuances of Western Classical Music
Lucknow, 24 November : Students, teachers
and music lovers learnt the finer points of Western Classical Music at a Music
Workshop hosted by City Montessori School, Rajajipuram Campus I. They also
enjoyed listening to the various genres of western music. The music workshop
was held under the aegis of the Associated Board of Royal School of Music (ABRSM),
London. A rousing discussion on western
music was held which saw the eager
participation of Ms. Zoe Booth, Chief Examiner, ABRSM; Mr. Michael Walsh,
Examiner, ABRSM; Mr. James Welburn, Musician; Ms Sonia Khan, Managing Director,
India National Youth Orchestra and Chorus. These renowned musicians also
entered into a question-answer session with the audience and satisfied their
queries. A lot of discussion and talks were held by the renowned musicians
which provided a comprehensive exploration of various aspects of music,
including composition, performance, collaborative creativity etc.
Speaking
on the occasion, the Chief Speaker, Ms Zoe Booth from the ABRSM said that
music has emerged today as a new path-breaking career and the younger
generation has shown great inclination towards it. A career in music not only
brings out hidden talents in students but also leads to the development of
human values and character building. Principal of CMS Rajajipuram Campus I,
Mrs Nisha Pandey said that music workshop is a godsend opportunity for
students and teachers to meet face to face with music celebrities and renowned
composers. She expressed the hope that this workshop will prove to be a boon
for all music lovers.
Chief
Public Relations Officer of CMS, Mr Hari Om Sharma said that ABRSM is the
biggest music examining body which gives assessment tests to almost six lakh
pupils in over 90 countries of the world and awards diploma degrees to the
deserving candidates.
