World in danger if a New World Order is not formed — General opinion of Chief Justices from various countries
Lucknow, November 5 : Chief
Justices, judges and legal luminaries arrived from 61 countries to participate
in the 24th International Conference of Chief Justices of the world being
organized by City Montessori School raised a strong voice for a New World Order
today and commended the efforts of CMS in this direction. The very existence of
the earth is in danger if a New World Order is not immediately formed, they
said. Presiding over the proceedings of the 3rd day of the World Judiciary
Meet, Dr. Vikram Singh, IPS, Chancellor, Noida International University, said
that Article 51 of the
Constitution of India is a beacon of hope for humanity showing the way towards
peace, unity and harmony in the world. The Covid pandemic has clearly shown
that the way to solve problems globally is not by competiton but through
cooperation.
Mr Justice Adelino Manuel Muchanga, Chief Justice,
Supreme Court, Mozambique, said that respect for human rights are a
prerequisite for bringing about peace and order in the world. This conference
is a learning experience for all of us. Mr Justice Dr Joel Leonardo,
President, Supreme Court, Angola praised the conference and said that this
Judicial Meet is of special significance as it deals with the welfare of all
humanity. He advised the setting up of an Anti - Corruption council to delegate
responsibilities to the World leaders, law makers and policy makers. Ms
Justice Cecile Marie Zinzindohoue, President, High Court of Justice, Benin said
that the problems of the world are not the same as they were when the United
Nations was setup. Therefore it is important to bring about reform in the
United Nations Charter and structure as per today's needs. Ms Justice Bibi
Rehana Mungly-Gulbul, Chief Justice, Supreme Court, Mauritius said that the
need of the hour is to take steps to bring about positive change in the world
before it becomes too late.
Chief
Justices, judges and legal luminaries held detailed discussions on various
topics in the parallel sessions held today. Under the theme 'Reform of UN
Charter', discussions were held on topics including 'Refreshing the UN
Charter to serve as a Global Constitution and Social Contract', 'Replacing the
"One State - One Vote" in UN General Assembly by a weighted voting
system', etc. while under the theme 'Enforceable World Law', the topics
of discussions were 'Conditions under which respect for treaty obligations and
other international law can be maintained', 'Mechanisms of enforcing
international laws in addition to traditional institutions of compliance',
'National acceptability of universal constitutional mandates against war and
violence' etc. wherein the learned jurists put up their views. Similarly,
discussion on different other themes were also held which included 'Human
Development : Education, Health, Employment, Inequality', ' Action for Climate
Change', ' Disarmament and a UN Peace Force' and ' Role of NGOs, Civil Society,
Smart Coalitions in Global Governance'. Convenor of this historic conference
and CMS Founder, Dr Jagdish Gandhi also addressed a press conference to
apprise the media persons about the powerful views expressed by the World
Judiciary today. The jurists emphatically stated the need of a World Judicial
System to ensure justice, peace and unity and end wars.
Chief Public Relations Officer of CMS Mr Hari Om Sharma
informed that the Chief Justices and
distinguished guests from various countries proceeded to Indira Gandhi
Pratishthan where a cultural
presentation and a lavish dinner had been arranged in their honour. Here the Chief
Guest, Mr Keshav Prasad Maurya greeted and met them personally. Mr Maurya
praised CMS efforts to safeguard the world's children's fuure through this
conference. Mr Sharma stated that the rounds of discussion and deliberation
among the Chief Justices and Judges and their interaction with children are
going on. The fourth day's inauguration of this historic World Judiciary
Meet will be done at CMS Kanpur Road auditorium with the Deputy Chief Minister,
Mr Brajesh Pathak inaugurating the 4th day's events at 9 am in the morning.
