Efforts at every level are required to promote world peace —Mr Marie Cyril Eddy Boissezon, Vice-President, Mauritius
Lucknow, 4 November : The 24th International Conference of Chief
Justices of the world being organised by City Montessori School was formally
inaugurated at CMS Kanpur Road auditorium by the Vice-President of Mauritius,
Mr Marie Cyril Eddy Boissezon. In his inaugural address Mr Boissezon said that efforts at every level is needed to encourage
peace. Change can only come when we all stand together. He commended CMS for
taking up the cause of ensuring the safety of the humanity by making the
judiciary from the world over to come together and ponder over the ways to
create a new world order. Such events should be held in all countries, he said.
At the inaugural session of the International
Conference of the Chief Justices, today, the high dignitaries, Chief Justices,
Judges and legal luminaries put forth their views. Speaking on this occasion, Mr
Abdessatar Ben Moussa, 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Tunisia, said that today
the world needs people and organizations who create a better society for all.
We must think beyond religion, colour or language and emphasis on human rights,
justice, freedom and equality is needed. Mr Moussa suggested several ways for
bringing world peace and world unity. Mr Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin,
Speaker of the Parliament, Ghana, said that no country or continent can
fight global issues alone; we all must stand together to fight against global
problems. UN Charter needs to be reformed. We do not inherit earth from our
ancestors but we borrow it from our children. Dr Joshua Lincoln from USA
said that we need to look beyond the problems of the present and focus on
the problems of the future. Mr Stjepan Mesic, Former President, Croatia, spoke
that UN needs to act not only in times of war but in normal situations also it
should focus on establishing peace and unity in the world. Mr Gelase Daniel
Ndabirabe, Speaker of the National Assembly of Burundi and many other
diginitaries expressed their views in the inaugural session of the conference.
CMS Founder and Covenor
of this historic Conference, Dr Jagdish Gandhi apprised the media personnel
about the opinions of Chief Justices at the press conference held today. Dr Gandhi informed media persons that the Chief
Justices heard the appeal of CMS students and discussed among themselves the
solutions of various global issues. CMS students appealed to the World
Judiciary that they want a safe and secure world for the 2.5 billion children
of the world. You all make such an order in the world that can establish unity
and peace in the world. Instead of the stockpile of bombs, we want a peaceful
and better future, they said.
CMS students took out a
huge World Unity March to call for a safe future for over 2 billion children of
the world. Presidents, Prime Ministers, Speakers of Parliaments and Chief
Justices, judges and legal luminaries arrived from 61 countries of the world to
participate in the conference led this March in support of the students' call. The march began from Purani Chungi, Kanpur Road and
culminated at CMS Kanpur Road auditorium. Mr Sharma further stated that after
whole day's discussions all the judges and legal luminaries visited the new
High Court premises and profusely praised its architecture. After that, they
visited CMS Rajajipuram Campus to join the grand cultural evening and a lavish
dinner specially organized for thesee steemed guests.
