CMS students appeal for Cracker-free Diwali celebrations

Lucknow, November 9: Students of City Montessori School, RDSO Campus took out a huge rally and organized street play (Nukkad Natak) today to appeal to their fellow groups, friends and the entire country to celebrate 'Diwali' joyfully without bursting fire crackers, thus saving environment from pollution and illumine one's own soul. Raising slogans like 'Diwali Zaroor Manayenge, Pataake Nahin Chhudayenge', 'Vatavaran Ko Bachao, Pataake Mitao', 'Andhkaar Mitayenge, Deep Jalayenge, Diwali Manayenge, Pataake Nahin Jalayenge' etc. through banners, placards, posters and songs, students of CMS RDSO Campus took a round of nearby areas making an appeal to celebrate Diwali without bursting crackers in the interest of our country, society, environment and for their own health. Several senior citizens and social activists joined this huge rally of CMS students to celebrate pollution-free happy Deepawali.

Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Principal of CMS RDSO Campus,
Mrs Jyotsna Atul said that
CMS students know that Diwali is a festival of wealth and prosperity and also that it can be really enjoyed if celebrated without crackers. Thousands of children get injured every year due to crackers. Burning crackers in huge amounts releases poisonous gases that pollute the environment. She further said that Diwali is not only a festival, but also motivates us to enlighten ourselves from within.

Mr Hari Om Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of CMS informed that for the past several years, CMS students have been campaigning for an eco friendly, Cracker-free Diwali, making people aware of the level and dangers of pollution caused by crackers and explosives on this day. All 63000 students studying in 21 campuses of CMS took a firm decision to observe a Cracker-free Diwali and keep the environment neat and clean. CMS firmly believes that a pure, happy and pious Diwali is much better than a noisy, polluted and explosive-filled Diwali dangerous for both animals and humans.
