Music teachers secure Distinction in ABRSM Singing exam

Lucknow, August 18 : Two music teachers of City Montessori School, Suchendra Kumar Dubey and Namrata Dwivedi, cleared the ABRSM grade 3 Singing exam with Distinction. Suchendra and Namrata received online training for about a year by the CMS Western classical music trainers Mr Shamim Movahhed and Ms Jinous Yegan.

To secure Distinction in grade 3 Singing is a serious achievement. Suchendra and Namrata, each sang 4 western melodies from sheet music, ranging from those by 17th century composer Henry Purcell to more contemporary pieces, for example from Lionel Bart’s 1960’s musical ‘Oliver!’

These teachers now want to achieve ABRSM qualification up to Grade 8. Suchendra says, ‘We want to offer our students training in both Indian and Western classical music, and to build a choir for Western classical music concerts'.

The Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) is the UK's largest music exam board, holding over 650,000 assessments in more than 90 countries every year, providing graded music exams, assessments and diplomas. An ABRSM grade has worldwide recognition and its exams are designed to motivate learners at all levels and ages, providing realistic goals and tangible rewards for their achievements.

Dr Jagdish Gandhi, Founder Manager, CMS congratulated Suchendra and Namrata and said that CMS has hired western classical music experts from abroad to train our teachers to broaden the range of types of music taught at CMS for interested students.
