Grand inauguration of Teachers Training Workshop at CMS

Lucknow, March 1 : A two day workshop was inaugurated today by Chief Guest Dr Nidhi Patel, IAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner cum ADM, Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh at CMS Gomti Nagar Campus II. The workshop focussed on training teachers on ALFA (Accelerate Learning for All) pedagogy for students of Class Montessori to II. Over 600 teachers from 11 campuses of City Montessori School and other City International Schools of Ayodhya, Kanpur, Lucknow, Barabanki participated in this interesting workshop with great enthusiasm and curiosity to learn and innovate.

The Chief Guest Dr Nidhi Patel highlighted the importance of ALFA project and said that Himachal Pradesh government has adopted this pedagogy for the primary students of its schools throughout the state. She further said that groupism among students starts from early ages and we can now counter that with paired learning where children are paired randomly everyday. She also mentioned that by following Alfa method, children lose their hesitation and do not fear to make mistakes and ask each other questions. She was hopeful that in other places also including Lucknow, the new teaching method will become popular with students and teachers.

CMS Founder-Director, Dr Bharti Gandhi said that the ALFA learning is extremely helpful in the modern context as it combines learning with pleasure. Children are quick to respond to new changes and adapt themselves to new teaching methods that motivate and inspire them to think independently, innovate and recreate. With this method, children can learn languages like Hindi very easily and solve mathematical equations in a practical way without rote learning of formulas.

It may be mentioned that the ALFA was first introduced by City International School under the guidance of its Founder Dr Sunita Gandhi in the year 2022.  Its pilot project was introduced in CMS Gomti Nagar Campus II and CMS Aliganj Campus II and later on it spread to 11 other campuses of CMS in the same year. This year the remaining 11 campuses of CMS also introduced ALFA project from Montessori to Grade II kids for their quick learning by using the practical method of observation and learning by association of letters with objects and pictures.
