Lucknow, 6 October : City Montessori School (CMS) has yet again received the honour of 'World's Largest School' in terms of number of pupils in the Guinness Book of World Records, a matter of great pride not only for the city but for the entire state and the country.  CMS secured a place in the Guinness Book of World Record on the basis of its 61,345 students on roll in all 21 CMS Campuses in the 2023-2024 session. It was in the year 1999 that CMS was first recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the ‘world's largest school in a single city’ with 22,612 pupils on roll, and now, even after nearly 24 years, this record stays with CMS. This information was given by the Chief Public Relations Officer of CMS, Mr Hari Om Sharma.

Mr Sharma informed that CMS Founders and renowned educationists, Dr Jagdish Gandhi and Dr Bharti Gandhi while expressing happiness on this achievement of CMS, said that the entire credit for this singular achievement goes to the principals, teachers, parents and students of the school. They also extended their gratitude to the citizens of the city and parents of children who have been showing firm loyalty and unflinching faith in the ideals of the institution and the educational pedagogy followed at CMS where education is child-centered and of high quality using the latest teaching technology.

CMS President and MD, Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon said that figuring in the Guinness Book of World Records is a great honour for the CMS fraternity as well as the people of Lucknow. This recognition clearly signifies that CMS is not only the largest school in terms of quantity but also in quality of teaaching and the facilities and care provided to its students. It proves the intrinsic value of the CMS pattern of teaching where each child is a gem and the belief that “every child is potentially the light of the world.”

Mr Sharma further stated that 64 years ago, in 1959, CMS was established with a mere strength of 5 students on a borrowed capital of 300 rupees, and has today, grown to mammoth proportions, boasting of nearly 62,000 students. Due to the untiring sacrifice, devotion and determined effort of the school’s Founders, Dr Jagdish Gandhi and Dr Bharti Gandhi, City Montessori School has found a place of honour in the Guinness Book of World Records year after year.
