CMS students perform outstanding physical fitness exercises at Fit India celebrations


 

Lucknow, December 21 : City Montessori School, Gomti Nagar Campus I organised Fit India celebration today in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India and Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE), New Delhi. The event was a great success as it witnessed the active participation of few senior students of the campus on the school ground who were joined virtually with all students of the school live through Zoom platform.

            The event was flagged off by the Chief Guest, Ex-Olympian and Hockey player, Mr Sujeet Kumar Srivastava. Addressing students on this occasion, Mr Srivastava said that the nation-wide Fit India movement was launched by the Prime Minister of India, Mr Narendra Modi last year to encourage people to remain healthy and fit by including physical activities and sports in their daily lives. He said that fitness is of utmost importance in today's stressful and busy life where technology has made everything easy and at the same time it is posing a threat to our mental and physical well being. Mr Srivastava expressed his happiness that today's youth is more concerned about physical fitness and parents have also started considering sports as  a good career option for their children.

            On this occasion, students performed various light exercises like Spot Jogging and Jumping Jack, some Yoga postures, Freehand exercises, Aerobics, Skipping challenge etc., with the help of their sports and physical education teachers. A family fitness challenge was also held online and Christmas Carols were sung to celebrate the approaching festival of Christmas.

            Founder of CMS and renowned educationist Dr Jagdish Gandhi joined the celebration online and blessed the students. Convener of the event and Principal, CMS Gomti Nagar Campus I, Mrs Abha Anant said that fitness does not mean performing difficult exercises or going to gym every day. We can imbibe easy, and non-expensive ways to work out and remain fit. The fitness of body has become even more important in the current times when we are battling with the Corona Pandemic. She said that it is time for us to bring behavioural changes in our lifestyles.
