CM Yogi Adityanath plants sapling at CMS Gomti Nagar Campus to launch Environment Conservation Week

Lucknow, July 1 : Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath launched the State Government's Environmental Conservation Week by planting a sapling in the premises of City Montessori School, Gomti Nagar Campus II. The Uttar Pradesh Government is celebrating Environmental Conservation Week from 1st July which aims at planting 30 crore saplings across the state during this week. The Chief Minister planted a Peepal sapling at CMS Gomti Nagar premises to launch this programme. Addressing the gathering on this occasion, the Chief Minister said that this campaign aims at creating greenery all around to provide clean air, water and oxygen to the masses. He said starting this big project by planting a Peepal tree has a special significance as Peepal gives maximum oxygen, shade, rainfall and it is also the symbol of knowledge - The Bodhisatwa under which Mahatma Buddha gained salvation. He thanked CMS Founders Dr Jagdish Gandhi and Dr Bharti Gandhi for choosing this plant over all others for the purpose. He commended CMS students for their commitment to social causes and for their academic excellence.

            In his welcome address to the Chief Minister, Shri Yogi Adityanath, Dr Jagdish Gandhi said that in his four years as the Chief Minister of the state, he has converted Uttar Pradesh into Uttam (Best) Pradesh. He said that today, Uttar Pradesh is leading in all fields - be it the field of education, women security, economic or any other - Shri Yogi Ji's contribution deserves great praise. Dr Gandhi said that during the next six days, tree plantation will be done in all campuses of CMS wherein all kinds of plants, specially the air purifying, medicinal and oxygen-giving plants will be planted. CMS Founder-Director Dr Bharti Gandhi also expressed her views on this occasion.

            Earlier, the programme began with the lighting of lamp by the Chief Minister followed by a multimedia presentation on the importance of planting trees which was much appreciated. Mr Avnish Awasthi, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Home, UP; Mr Navneet Sehgal, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Information, UP; Shri Abhishek Prakash, IAS, District Magistrate of Lucknow; Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon, President, CMS; Mr Roshan Gandhi, Chief Executive Officer, CMS; Ms Susmita Basu, Head, Quality Assurance and Innovation Department, CMS; Principals of all CMS Campuses and Ms Sunita Gandhi, Hon. Chief Academic Advisor, CMS, were other eminent personalities present on the occasion.

            Five students of CMS including Vedansh Singh, Sharanya Agarwal, Navisha Singh, Gaurang Chatterjee and Prachi Madnani representing the 55,000 CMS students gave out the message of keeping the earth clean and green. CMS President, Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon proposed the vote of thanks towards the Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath and other eminent guests present on the occasion.
