World Unity is the need of the Hour — Mr Keshav Prasad Maurya, Dy. CM, UP

 Lucknow, November 9 : Heads of State, Chief Justices and Judges of the Supreme Court of 63 countries of the world participating in the 21st International Conference of Chief Justices of the World, came to the unanimous conclusion that the day is not far off when the whole world shall unite under one umbrella of Global Governance and a World Government will be formed to ensure the safety and security of 2.5 billion children of the world and the generations yet to be born. This World Government will see that every human being is provided with the basic necessities of life, clean environment, a peaceful world order, food shelter, education, health facilities and a safe future. Earlier, on the final day the Conference was addressed by the Chief Guest, Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Hon'ble Mr Keshav Prasad Maurya, Vice-Chancellor of Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, Prof. Balraj Chauhan, Vice-Chancellor, Lucknow University, Mr Alok Kumar Rai and top legal luminaries of several countries. Former Chief Justice of the Philippines, Mr Hilario Davide Junior was honoured with the 'Mahatma Gandhi Award' for promoting peace, understanding and unity in the world by the Chief Executive Officer of CMS, Mr Roshan Gandhi. Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Constitutional Court of Egypt, Mr Justice, Adel Omar Sharief was honoured with 'Hope for Humanity Award' for his relentless and untiring efforts to promote a climate of peace in the world.

            In his message, the Chief Guest Hon'ble Mr Keshav Prasad Maurya, Deputy Chief Minister, U.P., said that World Unity is the greatest need of the hour. The welfare of the entire human race is possible only by treading the path of World Unity, there are no two opinions about this. On this occasion, the CMS Founder-Manager and Convener of this historic Conference, Dr Jagdish Gandhi said that after the four days of intense discussion and deliberations the Heads of state, Chief Justices and Judges have come to the conclusion that Article 51 of the Constitution of India presents the only hope for bringing humanity out of the grave problems it is facing including the Corona pandemic. Article 51 binds the human family as one unit and only when we are all one can we hope to have lasting peace and security on earth.

            Mr Alok Kumar Rai, Vice-Chancellor of Lucknow University said that this conference convened by CMS is going a long way in finding solutions to various global problems. He said that CMS is creating an opportunity for us all to leave a legacy that would be cherished by future generations. Prof Balraj Chauhan, Vice Chancellor, Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, said in his address that we have to prepare the young generation to take up the challenges of 21st century. We have to act for a safe and healthy future of world's children. This conference will create a consciousness in this direction. Mr Justice Kamal Kumar, Acting Chief Justice, Fiji Islands said that the concept of global governance is not new. It dates back to 13th or 14th century. The covid crisis has again reinforced the idea and sent us a message that human beings need to live in harmony and peace and for that greater international cooperation is required. CMS President and MD, Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon proposed that instead of having nominated members, it should have members elected from different countries as per a formula derived on the basis of various factors like their population, per capita income, health index and index of educational standards.

            Judges and legal luminaries from several countries including Mr Stjepan Mesic, Former President of the Republic of Croatia; Mr Jocelerme Privert, Former President of the Republic of Haiti; Mr Moussa Laurent Ngon Baba, Speaker, National Assembly, Central African Republic; Mr Justice Antoine Kesia-Mbe Mindua, Judge, International. Criminal Court, Netherlands; Mr Justice Bheki Maphalala, Chief Justice, Superior Court of Judicature, Eswatini; Mr Justice Joao Antonio Beirao, Deputy Chief Justice, Supreme Court, Mozambique; Ms Justice Mirsada Dzindo, Judge, Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Mr Justice Francesco Buffa, Judge, Supreme Court of Cassation, Italy; Mr Ismail G. Khan, Attorney at Law, Philippines; Mr Antonio Oposa, Attorney at Law, Philippines and many more presented their views at the deliberations held at the conference today.
