Seven CMS students qualify for KVPY scholarship
Lucknow, 17 March :
Seven students of City Montessori School (CMS) qualified in the first round of
prestigious Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY Fellowship), the results
of which were declared late last night. Naman Mishra of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus
I qualified the first round of KVPY with an All India Rank of 146 out of the
total of 2800 who qualified pan India. Saharsh Saxena, Aryan Verma and Rajat
Srivastava of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus I; Devansh Bansal of CMS Kanpur Road;
Sailesh Agarwal of CMS Mahanagar and Kanishk of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus II were
the others who qualified for the prestigious scholarship.
The
Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a scholarship program of the
Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India to encourage
students to take up research careers in Science.
Students studying in Class 11 to 1st year of any
undergraduate Program in Basic Sciences namely B.Sc., B.S., M.Sc., M.S. in
Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology are eligible for selection.
Aptitude tests are conducted by Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc) at various
centres in the country. Short-listed students are called for an interview which
is the final stage of the selection procedure.
KVPY fellows pursuing undergraduate courses in Sciences
are awarded a monthly fellowship of Rs 5000 for a 3 year period and an annual
contingency grant of Rs 20,000, while those pursuing postgraduate courses are
awarded a monthly fellowship of Rs 7000 for a 2 year period and an annual
contingency grant of Rs 28,000.
Dr Jagdish Gandhi, Founder Manager of CMS expressed
delight on the success of his students and said, “CMS creates opportunities for
its students to qualify various competitive exams and pursue higher study from
the best universities by giving them free-of-cost coaching classes after
school.”
