Students suggest effective solutions to burning global problems

Lucknow, April 30 : Over 500 students from various cities of the country including Lucknow, Dehradun, Mussoorie, Ghaziabad, Varanasi, Prayagraj and Chandigarh participated in the second and last day of the Model United Nations (MUN) conference organized by City Montessori School, Aliganj Campus I at the school premises today. Leaving the mark of their versatility and effective speaking skills, these students from across the country deliberated upon various burning global issues in an urgent manner and exhibited that the future generation is seriously concerned about the changing world condition and has the ability to solve the world's problems with positive outlook.

             Under the Model United Nations Conference, seven committees of students representing different committees of the United Nations were formed on the lines of the General Assembly of the United Nations. Under the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), there was a serious discussion on  the role of journalism and media as an instrument of misinformation, with special emphasis on state control media and infringement of Human Rights. Similarly, the UN General Assembly (UNGA) discussed the urgency to catalyse the 2030 agenda for sustainable development, while the United Nations Security Council Committee (UNSC) discussed  the need of extending UN assistance to Afghanistan. The Joint Crisis committee (JCC) discussed the first Arab-Israeli war, 1948 and the Lok Sabha committee held discussion on Constitutional principles of separation of State and religion. The students in the committee named 'The International Press' deliberated on the adequacy of reporting on photography and videography and played the role of international or national press with great responsibility.

            A grand valedictory session of MUN-2023 was held in the evening. The Chief Guest of the closing ceremony was Mrs. Anju Singh, Financial Advisor, U.P. Government, who gave away certificates and prizes to the participants. In her address delivered on the occasion, Mrs. Anju Singh said that such events contribute to the overall personality development of the students and make them socially aware and responsible citizens. Convener of CMS MUN-2023 and Senior Principal of CMS Aliganj Campus I, Mrs. Jyoti Kashyap expressed her gratitude towards all.
