Last rites of Dr Jagdish Gandhi performed with dignity and state honours at Bahai Samadhi Sthal

Lucknow, January 24: Founder of City Montessori School, former MLA and renowned educationist, Dr Jagdish Gandhi was given state honours at the funeral as he left for his heavenly abode at the Bahai Samadhi Sthal next to Bhainsa Kund cremation ground. Religious leaders of Hindu, Jain, Sikh, Buddha, Islam and Bahai gathered together and recited their prayers for peace of the soul. Among the followers of different religions were Pandit Hari Prasad Mishra (Hinduism), Mr S. K. Abidi (Islam), Mr Rajendra Singh Bagga (Sikh), Father Rajesh D' Souza (Christianity), Bhante Sheel Ratan (Buddhism), Shri Shailendra Jain (Jainism) and Mr Aman Mohajer (Bahai Faith) etc. The funeral procession was solemn and sorrowful as Dr Jagdish Gandhi’s wife, Dr Bharti Gandhi, son Mr Vinay Gandhi, daughter Dr Sunita Gandhi, Prof. Geeta Gandhi, daughter Prof. Nita Gandhi Forouhi and others joined in the Funeral March towards the final destination and sought the blessings of the Almighty in helping them to tide over this hour of difficulty and sorrow with courage and fortitude. On this occasion, Ms Ritu Suhaas, IAS; Mr S.P. Singh, IAS and other high government officials, professors and educationists offered their tribute to the departed soul and praised the collosal contribution of Dr Jagdish Gandhi to education. 

               After the funeral services, a Memorial Prayer Meeting was held at CMS Gomti Nagar Campus I auditorium in which the family members of the Gandhi family and all the close relatives, friends and followers of Dr Jagdish Gandhi assembled to share their experiences and remember the great soul.  On this occasion, CMS Founder-Director, Dr Bharti Gandhi said that Dr Jagdish Gandhi’s life was characterized by simple living and high thinking. A visionary approach, high powered enthusiasm and intense hard work backed by nobility of thought and ideas were the factors that made him so successful and a role model for the students and teachers. Former Joint Secretary, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Govt of UP and CMS Secretary, Mr Ratan Chandra Gupta said that he had had a long and fruitful association with Gandhiji who was a man of action and enterprise and would leave no stone unturned for the welfare of children. Dr Jagdish Gandhi’s daughter, Ms Sunita Gandhi said that her father was a great and noble educationist and an upholder of high ideals and morality. CMS President and Dr Gandhi’s daughter, Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon prayed in remembrance of her father and shared her thoughts. Dr Jagdish Gandhi’s son, Mr Vinay Gandhi and younger daughter, Prof. Nita Gandhi Forouhi; Head of CMS Quality Assurance and Innovation Department & Superior Principal, Mrs Susmita Ghose and several of the CMS Principals and staff members shared their views on this occasion.
