Players from different countries enthral audience with their outstanding display of talent


 

Lucknow, 30 January : The 4th day of the six-day International School Cricket League, ‘ISCL 2023’ being organised by City Montessori School, Kanpur Road saw an exemplary display of talent by players of different countries who enthralled the audience with their cricketing skills. A total of six matches were played today at three venues, including CMS Kanpur Road cricket ground, multi-activity centre and Paarth Republic stadium. It is worth mentioning here that a total of 16 teams from South America, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Oman, Nepal and different parts of India are participating in this school level International Cricket league being organised by CMS Kanpur Road campus from 27th January to 1st February.

               The first match was played between Aryan International School, Madhya Pradesh and St Peters College, Johannesburg, South Africa on the fourth day at the multi-activity centre. Winning the toss, Aryan School chose to field. Batting first, South Africa scored 129 runs, losing 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. The South Africans had a bad start and lost their first wicket in the first over itself. Thereafter, Zac Frayne and Nic Steenhoff steadied the innings. Zac hammered 35 runs off 23 balls while Nick made 25 runs in as many balls with the help of 4 fours, and put the score in a respectable position for their team.  In the final overs, David Hunter, who remained unbeaten, hit 17 runs off 8 balls with 2 fours and one six. The Aryan school too had a bad start and lost two wickets for 8 runs in the second over itself. However, Ashish Yadav, who came to bat at number 5, played a blistering knock and scored 68 runs in 34 balls with the help of 9 fours and 6 sixes and ensured victory for his team. Opener, Sachin Raj also scored 34 runs in 36 deliveries. Thus, Aryan International School, Madhya Pradesh scored a victory by 5 wickets and Ashish Yadav was declared the player of the match.

               The first match at the Parth Republic ground was played between DAV Senior Secondary School, Punjab and Little Angels School, Haryana. In this closely competed match, the Haryana team elected to bat after winning the toss and scored 155 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. Chirag Kaushik  scored 70 runs from 48 balls with 9 fours and 3 towering sixes. From the Punjab team, Rajpreet Ghoshal proved to be economical with the balls, giving away just 17 runs in 3 overs. In reply, the Punjab team scored 156 runs in 17.3 overs for the loss of 5 wickets and won the match. Saksham Singh from Punjab scored 23 runs off 13 balls and Jigyasu also scored 23 runs from 16 deliveries. Rajpreet Ghoshal of Punjab was declared the player of the match for his economical balling and also scoring an unbeaten 53 runs off 25 balls. In the first match played at the CMS Kanpur Road Cricket ground, DAV Sushil Kedia Vishwa Bharti Higher Secondary School, Nepal defeated Indian School, Muscat, Oman by 10 wickets.

               The quarter finals of ISCL 2023 will be played tomorrow on 31st January.
