Aster Public School, Noida, Gyan Ganga Public School, Patna and Ammenity Public School, Uttarakhand reach Semi finals

Lucknow, 31 January : A total of 4 quarter final matches were played betwen 8 teams on the 5th day of the six-day International School Cricket League, ‘ISCL 2023’ being organised by City Montessori School, Kanpur Road which saw an exemplary display of talent by players of different countries who enthralled the audience with their cricketing skills. Sixteen teams from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Oman, Nepal and different parts of India are participating in this school level International Cricket league.

            The first quarter final match was played between Aster Public School, Noida and DAV Senior Secondary School, Amritsar, Punjab at the CMS Kanpur Road cricket ground. Winning the toss, DAV Punjab chose to field. Batting first, APS Noida scored a huge total of 221 runs, losing 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Saksham Sharma of APS Noida hammered 50 runs off 18 balls with the help of 5 fours and 6 sixes while Mohammad Aman scored 58 runs in 24 balls. Abhishek Bhati also contributed with 57 runs in 37 balls. Chasing a target of 222 runs, DAV Punjab could only score 191 runs in 19.1 overs. Thus, Aster Public School entered the semi-finals, beating DAV Punjab by 30 runs. Abhishek was declared the player of the match for his economical balling, giving away only 19 runs in 3 overs and taking 2 wickets while also scoring 57 runs for his team.

            The second quarter final was played at the multi-activity centre between Gyan Ganga Public School, Patna, Bihar and DAV Sushil Kedia Vishwabharti Higher Secondary School, Nepal. DAV Nepal invited GGPS Patna to bat after winning the toss. Batting first, GGPS Patna were 144 all out in 20 overs with contributions from Satya who scored 33 runs in 16 balls and Diwakar Tiwari with 36 runs for 28 balls. In reply, DAV Nepal could only manage 98 runs in 18 overs, while losing all the wickets. Thus, GGPS Patna won the match by 46 runs and entered the semi-finals.

            The third quarter final match saw a run feast and also the tournament’s first 100 being scored at the Parth Republic Stadium. This match was played between Ammenity Public School, Uttarakhand and CMS, wherein Amenity Public School won the toss and elected to bat first. The batters of Amenity Public School thrashed the CMS bowlers all over the ground and raised a mammoth score of 311 runs in 20 overs, which straightaway brought the opposition under immense pressure. Opener, Ashish Siwach played a blistering knock, scoring an unbeaten 185 runs in just 73 balls, which included 14 fours and 16 sixes. Jesmy Nain, coming at number two position, played a free hand too and struck 75 runs in 24 balls, remaining unbeaten. In reply, CMS could only muster 76 runs, losing all their wickets in 15.3 overs. Amenity Public School, Uttarakhand scored the victory with a huge margin of 225 runs and entered the semi-finals. The fourth quarter final match was being played at the CMS Kanpur Road Cricket Ground between Bal Bhawan International School, Delhi and Legend Combined School, Zimbabwe till the final of this release.

            Chief Public Relations Officer of CMS, Shri Hari Om Sharma informed that the semi-finals and final matches will be played tomorrow, on Wednesday, 1st February. The final match of ISCL 2023 will be played from 5 pm to 8 pm at the CMS Kanpur Road Cricket Ground, and thereafter the winners will be awarded the championship trophy amidst a colourful cultural presentation.
